CPF Director Of Investments Cited By Secretary Of Labor

On March 28, 2002 U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao announced that she has appointed the Central Pension Fund's Director of Investments Mr. John Szczur to a three-year term on the federal Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Plans. Mr. Szczur was one of five new members appointed to the Council. In her press release announcing the appointments, Secretary Chao stated "These five distinguished individuals bring a wealth of experience and expertise in their respective fields."

This is the second time that the CPF staff's expertise has been recognized by the Department of Labor. Michael Fanning, the Fund's Chief Executive Officer, was appointed by Secretary of Labor Robert Reich to serve on the same Advisory Council from 1996 to 1999.
